BLUE is an AI-powered agricultural assistant built by the UK Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture for Kentucky farmers, extension agents, and researchers. Ask questions about crops, soil health, pest management, and more — BLUE searches extension publications and provides answers with citations.

BLUE is an AI assistant built by the University of Kentucky Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. It looks up research-based publications from UK Cooperative Extension, the USDA, and other trusted sources, and answers with citations you can check. It is strongest on crop, soil, and pest management, and on the weather and growing-degree-day data behind them.
Answers include numbered citations that link to the original publication, so you can read the full source for yourself.
BLUE gives educational guidance, not professional advice. For decisions about your farm, confirm with your county Extension agent.
BLUE does not answer agricultural questions from memory. It looks up real documents, then writes an answer from what it finds, in three stages:
The document library is searched two ways at once — semantic search (by meaning) and keyword search (by exact terms) — and the combined results are re-ranked so the most relevant and most authoritative passages rise to the top. Sources are weighted by domain: UK Cooperative Extension first, then USDA and other federal agencies, academic sources, and approved industry publications.
The wiki is behind a feature flag (WIKI_RESEARCH_TOOL_ENABLED), off by default. When it is off, the Research agent falls back to document search and drill-down alone.
AI can be wrong. BLUE is strongest on general Kentucky agriculture and weakest on anything specific to your circumstances. Please verify before you act:
BLUE is not a substitute for veterinary, legal, or financial advice, and it is not for emergencies.
Your chats are saved to your account so BLUE can keep their context, and you can delete them all at any time from Settings, then Danger Zone, then Clear chat history.
BLUE keeps conversations; that is how it remembers context. Do not enter sensitive personal, financial, or proprietary information.
BLUE works in current versions of all major browsers:
BLUE targets modern browser engines (Chrome and Edge 100+, Firefox 100+, Safari 16+). A few decorative panel tints use CSS color-mix(), which needs Chrome and Edge 111+, Firefox 113+, or Safari 16.2+; older engines simply drop the tint and render the panel untinted.
Use the 👍 / 👎 buttons on any answer — they are saved with the answer. For anything broader, contact your county Extension agent.
